PRACTICE AREAS

The Calwell Practice investigates and litigates cases for people injured by obvious causes such as car wrecks, medical mistakes, defective products and other causes which can be readily identified as the cause of an injury.

But, we differ from many law firms because we also investigate and litigate cases for people who are injured, diseased, or otherwise in poor health but who don’t know the causes of their injuries or illnesses. We have found that many people have sick children but no answers as to what caused the illness or disease. People want to know what happened and why. Most of the time people with illnesses don’t even have a clue that there may have been some avoidable cause responsible. For example, often people have serious health conditions such as cancer, Parkinson’s disease, MS, seizure disorders and a host of other life altering conditions, but the doctors don’t know the cause. Over the years we have, with the help of expert doctors and toxicologists, been able to identify likely causes for many diseases and illnesses. Many of these causes are related to toxic chemical exposure. Further, many people don’t even know whether they’ve been exposed or not. Often, exposures are not apparent. They can occur over time in the home, workplace or school without detection. The Calwell Practice has extensive experience investigating these “hidden” risks of past exposures.

Adverse drug reactions are just another example of a “toxic” exposure. Injuries caused by drugs often don’t show up for years. Just as in the case of toxic chemical cases, The Calwell Practice is experienced in evaluating causal connections between drugs and diseases and injuries.

With this in mind, please look to the left of our home page and click on the topics there to find out if a disease or illness you or your children have may be related to some toxic exposure or some dangerous drug. Many doctors are not trained or skilled in toxicology and many have little knowledge about the drugs they prescribe. Many have little knowledge regarding the connections between certain chemicals, such as organophosphate pesticides and developmental delays, seizure disorders, epilepsy, mental retardation, and behavior disorders in children.

The Calwell Practice, as you will see from the information to the left of our home page, is experienced in investigating these complex cases. We have an extensive network of experts from major universities who are available to assist us in evaluating your case.
