Holding corporations accountable for your illness
Pesticides are a mainstay of rodent and insect control. Because they have been approved for use in your home and on your food, you reasonably may believe these chemicals are safe for your family. However, many of the agents that prove deadly to pests also cause damage to the human body. By the time researchers draw a correlation between a specific pesticide and serious illness, the damage is done.
The Calwell Practice, LC was founded in 1976 to seek justice for personal injury victims. Through our in-depth investigations, we discover unobvious and hidden causes of rare, debilitating medical conditions and prove the parallels to irresponsible pesticide use.
Damage to children’s nervous systems because of pesticide exposure
The nervous systems of infants and young children are especially vulnerable to pesticides, many of which are designed to fatally poison insects’ nervous systems. Because your children’s nervous systems continue to develop into teenaged years, young people are more susceptible to nerve damage injuries. Medical conditions that have been linked to pesticide exposure include:
Dangers of organophosphate pesticides
Organophosphates were produced for use in chemical weapons during World War II. Despite their link to nerve damage in humans and animals, chemical corporations marketed organophosphate compounds as insecticides, and pest control companies instituted their wide-spread use in homes, offices and farms during the 1980s and 1990s. The Dow Chemical Company subsidiaries manufactured organophosphate compounds under the brand name Dursban.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) listed the pesticide as a possible carcinogen, and studies indicated that even at low-level exposure, organophosphates may be hazardous to human health. Because of its high toxicity, the EPA ordered Dow Chemical Company to phase the pesticide out of the consumer market and reduce its commercial application by 2002. Trace amounts of organophosphate continue to contaminate produce sold to the public today. Although they continue to profit from this deadly agent, these large corporations are not immune to products liability claims. Our law firm demands accountability from the companies that carelessly harmed your family.
